A Short video I put together to explain my design process for linocut prints.
Theo Kamecke
If you have ever searched google for “Circuit Board Art” then you have probably seen Theo Kamecke’s work. He uses circuitry to cover his sculptures from functional furniture pieces to Wall hanging art and large commissioned pieces. Theo’s work seems futuristic and ancient at the same time. If you want more info about Theo or any of his work see TheoKamecke.com

Wearable Circuits
Lately I’ve been looking around for unique circuit board clothing. I found some really fun items that are silk screened and printed fabric available through Zazzle. I also ran across a bit of less functional but equally cool wearable circuits. Check out the gallery below.

Circuit Board CityScapes by Franco Recchia
Im’ alway on the look out for new Circuit board art. This week I found an artist I haven’t seen before through twitter. He creates small cityscapes out of circuitry and reclaimed computer parts. I think Franco Recchia’s work is similar to some of Steven Rodrig’s Circuit Board Sculptures. Franco Recchia’s work is available through Agora Gallery

Debby Arem: Three Ring Circuits
I remember the first time I saw a circuit board after tearing apart an old radio as a child. I connected to them right away and knew that I could use them for something else.
Debby Arem had a similar experience. She first saw a circuit board while her husband ran a business that built pcbs for computers. Upon seeing the circuitry for the first time she was immediately drawn to the ornateness and patterns knowing that they would be great materials for jewelry making. Next came the long task of discovering what equipment and processes worked best to get the desired results.
Fast forward to the present day and Debby now has two lines of designs. The green office line that incorporates circuitry and found objects into functional office products and Three Ring Circuits her Jewelry line that has been featured in museum shops, including those at the Smithsonian Institution Air and Space Museum and the Boston Computer museum, as well as many galleries and boutiques across the U.S. and Canada.
Several of Debby’s green office products can be seen as part of a permanent exhibit at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry as part of their Smart Home 2009 Exhibit! Sponsored by WIRED magazine. She is also currently featured in Green Craft magazine.

Advice from Debby Arem:
Charge a reasonable and fair price for your work! When working with recycled items such as circuit boards and other found objects, it’s not just the cost of the materials, which can be minimal sometimes, but the incredible amount of hours it can take to design and assemble your project. Be proud of what you have created and promote, promote, promote!
Branch out. Try new things and color outside the lines! My husband and I work together in Three Ring Circuits as a team, and we’re always trying to come up with new items to add to our line of recycled circuit board products. I know that our customers have come to count on this and are constantly checking our shops to see what new item we may have added!

Advice from Gabriel Dishaw:
Never stop creating, But don’t force it. Some of my best pieces were done when I was allowing the sculpture to take its own shape, I have never had real success with a piece that I forced. If I hit a road block or don’t have the right piece I set the sculpture aside and revisit it.
