I just finished this little painting while I’m gearing up to do a bunch of linocuts. It was painted at the Oak tree in Green River so if there are little hairs in the paint I can’t guarantee that they are from the paint brush. Up, Locker, Westside. #king #painting #blackandwhite
available in the online store.
The Suicide King on handmade paper from old train paperwork. Mostly manifest trains. From now on, nothing but Zs and deadheads. #King #suicideking #playingcards #cardistry #blackandwhite

Stuck in Green River, I guess I will paint.
If it has anything to do with gambling, casinos or playing cards, I’m into it right now. I miss my family, but I keep telling myself this will be worth it. Being on the road takes some getting used to. I’m still not sure if it is something that I want to do or not. So if nothing else I have time to get back into creating some art. I’m sure it will get better the longer I’m out here.
I will add this to the online store.
The Suicide King, The King of Hearts. I had to paint this after reading about the story behind it. I recently finished this painting. The bottom section is an optical illusion. The eyes on the King also mess with your eyes. I’ve succeed in making more art that is hard to look at. Awesome. It was a fun little project though.
Just for fun, find the black dot on the bottom.
I have been getting into the art of playing cards. I am also inspired by the Artist Labrona. I find myself staying up all night on my days off trying to create a little original cardistry. In this painting I started out with just the black and white figures and all the color came afterwards. I had no idea the central figure would end up the king, but after picking up a few books on black jack and beginner card tricks I found myself falling in love with the cards themselves. I have a feeling there is more of this to come. Just a little in process painting I’ve been working on when I get a free moment. #king #cardistry #dougchase
